Summer holidays spent lying on a sun soaked beach?

After a rainy autumn, winter and spring, the school summer holidays have finally provided some beautiful summer sunshine. Some of my favourite beaches are on the wonderful and dramatic Yorkshire Coast that stretches 90 miles from Staithes in the North to Spurn Point in the south.

I have been celebrating the sea, and especially the Yorkshire Coast, in glass for a while now. Recently I have been practicing a new technique using glass powders, which I think provides some subtle water movement and 3D depth to my Yorkshire Coast works.

The two pieces above were produced as retirement gifts for two ex-work colleagues. But I have been busy making more, all individually crafted and personally signed, and which are now available for sale in both Fabrication (Leeds) and Fabrication (York).

The wood mounts, which are individually cut and prepared, have been reclaimed from a local Kitchen Manufacturer who simply send their offcuts to be burnt.

Some of my Yorkshire Coast glass pictures will shortly be available to buy through my Chilli Glass web shop, so be sure to keep an eye on the page over the next day or so...

Until next time.
